8 Reasons to buy
4 reasons not to buy
The outsole unit of the Salomon Speedcross 4 uses the Contagrip rubber. It is made from a compound of durable carbon rubber. This feature also enhances grip traction even on wet surfaces. The 6mm aggressive lugs give an amazing shoe bite on rugged terrains. Mud Guard to prevent mud from accumulating on the outsole.
The midsole uses a full-length unit made of EVA for great cushion and response. It is more durability than earlier versions. Compared to other midsole materials, LT Muscle is a lightweight material which absorbs impact forces at each step. The shoe has removable Ortholite sockliner, it was designed to both adding comforts and underfoot cushioning to encourage the runner to log more miles.
The Anti Debris Mesh Upper of the Salomon Speedcross 4 aims for an exceptional level of breathability and comfort for the runner. It is very breathable and lightweight. The Upper of this shoe introduces a new feature called the SensiFit system, aimed at providing a secure, snug, and virtually customized fit all around the foot.
One of the remarkable things about this series is the traction. They have maximum traction and durability. It is very comfortable to wear wherever you go. Muddy or snowy trails are not the problem. It gives traction on varied surfaces.
This pair has durable construction and minimalist design. It comes with extra weight due to the thick foam. Make the dampening becomes extraordinary. This shoe is very comfortable and lightweight even though you wear it for long distance runs. However, lateral stability is not the best you can find in its class. When you try to reduce the speed with sharp movements, I felt a bit shaky. I thought since the stack is high and ankles have low cuts.
Size and Fit
Its a snug fit makes for a very stable and responsive ride. The sizing is still using the prior series with a toe-box that is relatively snug so it will be suitable for narrow feet. It fits true to size and very comfortable.
We love these shoes to a run on the mountain. Its high-quality construction is flexible and good traction. The mesh that has been tightly knit can hold water, debris, and snow. The toe part is very solid with the heel armor that will not make you feel the bump when you glance off of the rocks. It has midsole with pretty thick size, which makes the shoes need no rock guard underfoot.
The Salomon Speedcross 4 is the highest rated shoe in our review, because of the incredible foot protection, the cushioning and traction, and snug form fit. These pairs are worth the price. They are the most refined trail running shoes we’ve used.
